Overcoming the enemies of Life of excellence

overcome 2

Enemies of excellence are either within (including within you) or without, wherever they operate from their aim is to truncate your journey to excellence this year, may I announce to you that it is too late as the truth we have been sharing in the last four weeks will not only free you from their holds but also defend you. Without wasting time shall we quickly consider the enemies of excellence and how to stand against them;

  1. Sin

The promise of excellence is not without conditions. Righteousness/obedience/Holiness guarantees excellence whilst sin brings reproach; Proverb:12:26: The righteous is more excellent than his neighbour: but the way of the wicked seduceth them (i.e makes them fall). A man whose sins have been washed away by the blood of Jesus excels and is blessed, while the one who lives in sin ‘is on his own’ as the grace to excel is not available to him

Ro:6:1: What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?     Ro:6:2: God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

The only way to overcome this enemy is to appropriate the grace made available in Christ through the power of Holy Ghost which help us to live holy life -This is made possible through salvation.

Ro:8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Ro:8:2: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

  1. Laziness: Let’s look at this passage. Proverb 6: 9-11

Proverb:6:9: How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?10: Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

It is clear from this passage that laziness only attracts poverty of spirit, soul & body.

Let us quickly consider various ways in which one could be lazy and their implications

  1. In the study of the word which makes one to be ignorant of the promises and directions of the Lord which are meant to guide us into excellence. Psalms:119:92: Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction.
  2. Laziness in prayer which makes one to be ignorant of the devices of the devil and thereby taking advantage of saints. M’t:13:25: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
  3. Laziness in service of God which robs one of rewards
  4. Laziness in our secular DEALINGS which ushers into abject poverty. Prov 6:10 &11

The scripture advises that we should be diligent in all our ways Ro:12:11: Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;

  1. Forces of darkness

The above two enemies (Sin and laziness) are internal enemies. Enemies of excellence could also be forces of darkness, these are external enemies that have capacities to influence their victims either negatively directly or by manipulating them through internal enemies. Let us look at the story of sanbalath , Tobiah and their cohorts against Nehemiah.

Ne:4:7: But it came to pass, that when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and the Arabians, and the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites, heard that the walls of Jerusalem were made up, and that the breaches began to be stopped, then they were very wroth,

Ne:4:8: And conspired all of them together to come and to fight against Jerusalem, and to hinder it.

The only way to stop external enemies is to watch and pray against their manipulations and attacks!

Ne:4:9: Nevertheless we made our prayer unto our God, and set a watch against them day and night, because of them.

Ne:4:16: And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

The only way to overcome all enemies is to appropriate the grace made available in Christ through the power of Holy Ghost which help us to live holy life -This is made possible through salvation.

Divine Abilities For Life of Excellence

Skill 2

In the corporate world, an executive requires soft skills to excel in his career. Likewise in the kingdom apart from diligence there are other divine abilities required by Christians not only to succeed in life but to also make impact in his ministerial endeavor.

Knowledge is what you know divinely that gives you an edge over others  while wisdom is your ability to make good decision based on knowledge & experience. Understanding on the other hand is solution one is able to proffer to a particular problem based on your knowledge and wisdom.

In the book of Exodus ( Chapter 31: 1-11) God decided to release these gifts (Wisdom , Knowledge and understanding) to Bezaleel and his subordinates so that they can use them to design various parts of the temple and make it a befitting house for our God. Let’s look at verses 2 & 3.

Ex:31:2: See, I have called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah:

Ex:31:3: And I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,

Just as the temple is the house of our God, our body and by extension our lives are the temple of the Holy spirit thus wisdom knowledge and understanding are required to make something good out of life both for edification of self and the kingdom (the church).

These ‘spiritual skills’ do not just exist on their own, they are visible in the lives of those that have given their lives to Christ and have received the gift of Holy Ghost just as God called Bezaleel by his name and filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, knowledge and understanding (Exo 31: 1&2).

Salvation paves way for in-filling of the Holy Spirit which manifests as Spirits of Wisdom, knowledge and understanding. Give your life to Christ today and begin to do well and excel.

Diligence; the pathway to life of excellence

Diligence

It is the plan of God for you to excel this year. This week we shall be looking at how to achieve excellence through diligence;

  1. Take a decision to Work hard and be at your best in what you do to get what God designed for your life. Jacob decided to go for the best through hard work.

Ge:29:18: And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.

Nimrod’s account

Gen:10:8: And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.

Gen:10:9: He was a mighty hunter before the LORD: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD.

  1. Do it with Integrity-Deal prudently Isaiah 52:13

Isaiah:52:13: Behold, my servant shall deal prudently, he shall be exalted and extolled, and be very high.

  1. Do it consistently- Jacob did not relax even when He was given Leah instead of Rachael. He served for another seven years and he got what he wanted- This year as you persist in working excellently the Lord will bless you greatly in a little before long in Jesus name.

Gen:29:26: And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.

Gen:29:27: Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.

Ge:29:28: And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his       daughter to wife also – what are you looking for this year, be ready to pay the price.

Endure temporary pain for transgenerational gain:

2Co:4:16: For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

2Co:4:17: For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

1Pe:5:10: But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

We are not permitted to suffer for long but the temporary ‘affliction’ work for us eternal Excellency.

Alta call.

Eternal Excellency has eternity content which you can only benefit through salvation; the coming of the Lord is at hand, accept Christ today and let your Excellency start here on earth and continue in heaven.

2016 Our Year of Excellence: Isaiah 60:15-22

Leave a comment

Whereas thou hast been forsaken and hated, so that no man went through thee,  I will make thee an eternal excellency, a joy of many  generations…… Isa: 60:15:

This year by the special grace of God is our year of excellence; the excellence is going to be the type that will usher us into generational order of blessing both spiritually and materially! From the blast before we discuss what God has in store for his people, we need to get it straight that excellence is not for the weak, unstable, careless, lazy, and unserious but rather it is for the purposeful, determined and those that are disciplined spiritually and emotionally.

Let us compare these two scriptures as God laid it upon my wife’s and my heart respectively.

Gen:49:3: Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:                                                                                                                                Gen:49:4: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest  up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

We can see here that Reuben was destined to excel in power, strength, and dignity but his indiscipline robbed him of that glorious destiny. In this year the only thing that can rob you of that which God has destined for you are vices you are not ready to let go or you are helplessly addicted to. God will set you free and cause you to excel in Jesus name.

In contrast;

Dan:1:8: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which  he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.                                                                                                                       Dan:6:3: Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Purpose and discipline produced excellence in Daniel that saw him to the top.

This year, go for purpose, discipline, commitment, dedication, service , integrity ( Holiness) and you will  get to where God has destined for you!

Yours truly,
